【5 December 2024｜Hong Kong】International MotorXpo Hong Kong (IMXpo) 2024, jointly organised by the International Motor Show (HK) Management Limited (IMSHKML), the Hong Kong, China Automobile Association (HKAA), and the Motor Traders Association of Hong Kong (HKMTA), officially opened today at the AsiaWorld-Expo. The event will run from 5-8 December, 2024.
This year’s IMXpo showcases an impressive lineup, featuring four major themed exhibition areas: International Auto Showroom, New Energy and Future Mobility Pavilion, Hong Kong Autofest, and IMX CARnival. The expo brings together over 30 international automobile brands, showcasing more than 200 vehicles, including high-performance supercars, new energy vehicles, rare classic cars, commercial vehicles, and future mobility solutions. Throughout the exhibition, a series of themed talks, product launches, the inaugural “Hong Kong JDM Contest”, and the highly anticipated “Miss IMX” Contest will take place. To enhance interactivity, the organisers have also introduced the “Drive & Fly” Lucky Draw. All attendees who purchase standard or package tickets will automatically enter the draw, competing for travel vouchers and car purchase vouchers valued at a total of HKD 200,000.
VIP and Media Preview Day Showcases Highlights of the Event
IMXpo hosted a VIP and Media Preview yesterday, attracting numerous local and mainland media representatives to get an exclusive first look at the event’s highlights. A guided tour was arranged to lead media and guests through the various exhibition zones, during which exhibitors unveiled new vehicle information and showcased the latest automotive technologies.
The tour began in the “International Auto Showroom”, where renowned automotive brands displayed their latest models, with some making their Hong Kong debut, captivating many attendees. In addition to showcasing newly launched passenger vehicles, this year’s IMXpo introduced exciting elements of the burgeoning low-altitude economy. The “New Energy and Future Mobility Pavilion” not only featured a range of charging technologies and hydrogen energy innovations but also presented the EHang EH216-S, a passenger autonomous aerial vehicle (AAV).
(Multiple Exhibitors Hold New Car Launch Events)
Another major focus of the event was the “Hong Kong Autofest”. Media representatives previewed the inaugural “Hong Kong JDM Contest,” featuring 10 finalists including iconic models such as Honda NSX, Mazda RX-7, Honda S2000, along with several classic Japanese Domestic Models. Additionally, Dr. Jack Lee, Founder of the Motoring Archive of Hong Kong, led a group of classic car owners to showcase 18 post-war antique vehicles. To immerse the audience in the experience, the venue featured a specially constructed scene of 1960s Hong Kong streets, meticulously recreating traditional tenement buildings and vintage signage, complete with zebra crossings modeled after historical photographs. IMXpo also displayed a collection of legendary supercars, including the globally limited De Tomaso P72 with only 72 units produced, the Aston Martin V12 Speedster priced over HKD 10 million with just 88 units available, and the Bentley Mulliner Bacalar Car One, valued at nearly HKD 40 million and limited to just 12 units worldwide. Attendees at the event will have the opportunity to witness these extraordinary vehicles in person.

Exciting Activities Await: “Carlsberg 0.0” Tasting and Busking
This year, IMXpo will feature a series of exciting activities aimed at providing visitors with a richer and more diverse experience, further enhancing the overall exhibition atmosphere. Carlsberg serve as the alcohol-free beer sponsor for IMXpo 2024, will host a “Carlsberg 0.0” tasting event during the exhibition. Attendees will have the chance to enjoy the zero-alcohol beer.
During the exhibition, the IMX CARnival will transform into a vibrant stage for busking. The organisers have invited several singers to perform, showcasing a variety of musical styles, including pop, rock, and saxophone. IMXpo aspires to elevate the atmosphere through their infectious music and passionate performances, allowing attendees to appreciate automotive technology while also experiencing the limitless charm of live music.

HKMTA x IMXpo Car Meet: Showcasing 20 Iconic Models
In another preview event, the HKMTA hosted a car meet at the Hong Kong SkyCity Marriott Hotel as a warm up event of IMXpo 2024. This event attracted participation from eight local automotive dealers, showcasing 18 automotive brands with a total of 20 representative models. Featured brands included Lamborghini, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, XPeng, and Toyota, highlighting a diverse range of luxury sedans and high-performance cars.

IMXpo 2024 marks the first collaboration with HKMTA and HKAA, demonstrating a shared commitment to advancing the development of Hong Kong’s automotive industry. The gathering aims to foster broader industry exchanges and collaborations, injecting new momentum into the local automotive market.
